Diagnostic Tool: Exception thrown by invocation target

description

Add-in's Online Status keeps showing "Loading..." indefinitely. So, I tried to use the Diagnostic Tool. It failed to launch with this error message: "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."

I have a Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT.

Same here, just installed this app and also getting this. Keeps showing "Loading". Diagnostic tool gives the same message, "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation".

I am using a WRT54GS running DD-WRT.

Also the download and upload info appears to be way off. Speedtests during downloads is around 8.5mb constant, and with this app, it shows 1.5mb d/l and 150kb u/l.

Hm, have you activated error reporting? If yes then please give me your instance ids so I can see which errors belong to you.

Please refer to http://routercontrol.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?title=InstanceId where to find the instance id.

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 26, 2009 at 10:43 PM

Appreciate the super quick response, yes I have activated error reporting and my instance id is 993dd952-a578-478d-ae30-aa575cda5282

Thanks again!

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:09 AM

Hm, I don't find any errors reported for that id... Can you please attach the following log files:

D:\folders{3EB3E1B1-5A8B-45E3-9F9A-573D1088B3B5}\Addin.log and Addin.log.1
D:\folders{3EB3E1B1-5A8B-45E3-9F9A-573D1088B3B5}*.ErrorReporting.log and *. ErrorReporting.log.1

You can access the files by using \server\d${3EB3E1B1-5A8B-45E3-9F9A-573D1088B3B5} and logging in as Administrator and your Home Server password.

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 10:59 AM

Super, here you go... If you would like, please email me at martinb1@embarqmail.com and I will give you a password where you can have full access to the server to take a look yourself. Right now there is nothing other than public info on it and I would be happy to set you up for full access.

Attached are the files,

Bit of a update. I am currently using two routers, a WRT54G connected to a cable modem with a wired connection to the WHS unit and a PS3 (Router 1). It is also being used as a wireless repeater bridge to another WRT54G (Router 2) in the other end of the home which has a wired connection to an XP Pro machine hooked up to several printers, a photo printer and a printer/fax/scanner.

In the "Selected Router" section of the software, it was not originally showing the URL for Router 1 but was for Router 2. I realized that on the Router in the UPnP section, "Send Presentation URL" was not checked. Once I checked this, the Diagnostic Tool is now working and I am not getting the error anymore.

Now the diagnostic tools has an "X" by "Connection Status", a "Check" by "Connection Speed", a "X" by "Connection Uptime" and a "Check" by "Traffic Data". It goes on to say under the box, "Feature test on router "DD-WRT Router (192.168.1.1)" successful. Please click 'Next' to continue. Except there is no "Next" box to check.

This has led to another problem. Now I am getting a message showing "Network Heatlh is Critical" every minute on the connected machines and I am getting a message that says that the "Router might be hijacked" and shows that the router web interface has been unreachable since I made the change I spoke about earlier. It also goes on to say that since the network is still operational, this may be an indication that this could be a possible highjacking.

The "Online Status" still just keeps on showing "Loading".

Thanks for the great support!

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 6:53 PM

Wow, that's some kind of feedback... THANKS!!!
  1. crash on missing presentation URL: fixed
  2. text on last page of diagnostic tool: fixed
  3. hijacked: can you provide me with a screenshot of the login screen of your router?
  4. online status showing "Loading" only: can you please attach a new Addin.log and Addin.log.1?

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:26 PM

Ok, I have attached a .doc file showing the screen shots, let me know if any others might help.

Also will be uploading the requested files. Addin.log and Addin.log.1 will be on their way in a few...

I really think that this is a great piece of software! I am a router freak and only wish I could do what you do. Many thanks!

New Addin.log.1

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:34 PM

Hm, when you log into the router. Do you get a website having a username and/or password field, or does the browser ask for the username and password?

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:37 PM

Ok, lastly I just wanted you to know that I am not getting the "Network Heatlh is Critical" or the "Router might be hijacked" messages any more. I have no idea why although I did uninstall the program and reinstalled it. Still I don't know what that might have done.

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:38 PM

Yes, the router has a username and password installed to get in.

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Sry for not being clear enough. I wanted to known WHICH one of the both login technique is used by the router: website or HTTP (browser login window)?

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:43 PM

Attached is the router log in...

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 8:56 PM

Okay, thank you. It's HTTP basic authentication. That's the point. The hijacking detection is not compatible with that. Can you please try out the new version and run the diagnostic tool and append the RouterControl.Diag.log?

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 9:01 PM

Love to! Will do and report back. Thanks!

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 10:13 PM

Well, I might have spoken too soon, I'm really having the highjack problem now once I got to a connected computer. I have attached a screen shot so you can take a look at it. I have run the diagnostic tool and now I get something different, it now has an "X" by "Connection Status", a "Check" by "Connection Speed", a "X" by "Connection Uptime" and a "X" by "Traffic Data".

I will also send the RouterControl.Diag.log

I'm going to have to uninstall the program, I can't deal with this highjack message coming up every minute.

RouterControl.Diag.log

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 10:16 PM

You can simply disable it in the "Features" tab of the Router Control settings ;) .

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 10:17 PM

Ok, will do, Thanks!

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 10:47 PM

Okay, here is a new version. The bug is not fixed yet, but we're close... Further I fixed a critical design bug so the "Loading..." (we spoke about before) should disappear now.

Can you please run the diagnostic tool again and attach the log file? Please make sure the feature test shows a new point "Hijacking Detection". Thanks!!!

fkollmann wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 11:09 PM

gn8 then :p . Can you please leave your name here or send me an email? I do not want to leave you unmentioned...

fkollmann wrote Jul 28, 2009 at 6:32 PM

Okay, the hijacking detection is now automatically being disabled if the router requires HTTP basic auth.

Thanks again for your hard work!!!

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 28, 2009 at 9:32 PM

Ok, I uninstalled the old one and installed v1.1b.
I am still getting the highjack messages when the box is checked.
The "Online Status" just keeps spinning and spinning and the program will not show "Max Upload and Max Download"
The "Traffic Graph" does not work anymore. The last entry from 8:21 this morning is still showing.
When I run the "Diagnostic Tool" the first part works fine. The second part finds the routher correctly, the third part reads:
Connection Status - "X"
Connection Speed - "Checked"
Connection Uptime - "Checked"
Traffic Data - "X"
Hijacking Detection - "Alert Symbol"
(I didn't' know if this was correct)

Thanks!

fkollmann wrote Jul 29, 2009 at 4:48 PM

All bugfixes and imporvements are now part of v1.1b .

Hi, can you please provide the new RouterControl.Diag.log so I can see the reason why Traffic Graph is no longer supported?

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 29, 2009 at 9:07 PM

Most recent screenshot with the traffic graph from a few days ago also showing the online status just spinning.

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 29, 2009 at 9:14 PM

For some reason the Router.Control.Diag.log won't attach, do you have any ideas? I'm gettin a message that says "Work Item attachment file was not found. Please enter a valid path." I see the file and the path is valid, I don't know what might be going on.

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 29, 2009 at 9:22 PM

Figured it out, I had unloaded the program and had to reinstall it, I had to run the diagnostic to get a new log, sorry.

fkollmann wrote Jul 30, 2009 at 8:05 AM

Thank alot!!! The log shows two issues.... one of them is already fixed. The other I will investigate this evening.

fkollmann wrote Jul 30, 2009 at 9:15 AM

Can you try our the latest built from yesterday evening... Some issues should be fixed here. Please attach the RouterControl.Diag.log :p

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 30, 2009 at 2:03 PM

How can I find the most recent release, the only one I can find is 1.1.5.0 and that is the last one I installed.

fkollmann wrote Jul 30, 2009 at 3:53 PM

Sry, I attached the file here...

KTMFactoryRider wrote Jul 30, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Ok, I have attached a screenshot of the main screen. I will attach the RouterControl.Diag.log next.

Here is what I see going on now;
The "Online Status" now shows "Unavailable" (At least it's not spinning)
The "Uptime" shows 0D 0H 0M and keeps counting from 0-4S.
The "Max Upload" and "Max Download" both read 95.37Mb/s
The "Traffic Graph" still does not work.
When I run the "Diagnostic Tool" the first part works fine. The second part finds the routher correctly, the third part now reads:
Connection Status - "Checked"
Connection Speed - "Checked"
Connection Uptime - "Checked"
Traffic Data - "X"
Hijacking Detection - "Alert Symbol"

I checked the Highjack protection and it showed on the client machine that it could not be used with the DD-WRT firmware router and reset itself like I guess you intended. This part appeared to work well.
